Log Quality Control (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

A&A Trading is currently seeking a motivated and well organized individual to fill the role of Log Quality Control.

The overall objective is to actively manage the processing of logs from the Falling phase through the Dryland Sorting phase to ensure the highest use and maximum value is achieved for all logs.

Responsibilities to achieve this objective include working with engineering staff to develop standing timber harvest valuations, working with senior log supply staff to create project specific grading and sorting strategies and strong communication of these strategies throughout the various phases of the operations.

This position is field oriented and camp work is required, as is travel in boats, helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft.

This is a full time salary position based out of either our Campbell River or Vancouver office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Good attitude and keen interest in learning and experiencing extensive field work within the coastal forest industry
•  Self motivated individual possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills comfortable working in a team based, results oriented environment.
•  A valid BC class 5 driver’s license is essential.
•  A valid BC Scalers’ license is preferred but not essential if the candidate already has extensive knowledge and experience with coastal log grading.
