Chasm Sawmill, a division of West Fraser, located in Clinton, BC is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the following position:
MILLWRIGHT
Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the Millwright will be a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily use of troubleshooting, predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.
As a member of this high performing team you will be responsible for all sawmill machinery and duties including:
- Maintenance of conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics
- Undertake preventative and predictive maintenance program for equipment
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to assemble equipment and follow work procedures & processes
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up, and repair of equipment and machinery
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
- Troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, lubricate, and perform maintenance work on machinery
- Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders
- Assemble large, precision heavy equipment for the Lumber/wood processing sector
- Utilize knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings
- Verify and document repairs made to equipment
- Monitor product quality and provide feedback
Our ideal Millwright candidate possesses:
- A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification (fourth year Millwright apprentices will also be considered)
- Able to read blue prints, plans and schematics
- Mechanical/electrical aptitude
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Committed to working safely and creating a safe work place
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently with little supervision
- Organizational and planning skills
- Flexible schedule in order to work day, evening and weekend shifts
Considered a strong asset:
- Previous experience working in a sawmill, planer mill or with forest products
- A Red Seal Certificate
- A welding certificate
- Knowledge of hydraulics
