Job summary 

Howe Sound Pulp and Paper has immediate opportunities for Instrument Mechanics at our Port Mellon facility.

Responsibilities: 

 Calibrate, install and maintain a wide variety of industrial instrumentation devices 

 Work with other trades in a flexible team environment to achieve greater efficiency and productivity; 

 Assist Operations in troubleshooting mill processes, repairing process equipment and optimizing control system effectiveness 

 Perform routine inspections of mill instrumentation and analytical equipment to ensure environmental and quality standards are met 

 Work as part of a team to assist in maintaining the mill ISO 9001 & 14001 certifications 

 Work in close proximity with the DCS team on process reliability and stability 

 Maintain plant instrument standards and documentation 

 Provide shift relief duties as required 

 Adhere to and sponsor safety rules and procedures. Ensure safety is a core value 

Qualifications: 

 Journeyman Instrument Mechanic with interprovincial certification is required. 

 Experience in an industrial environment would be considered an asset 

 Practical knowledge including direct experience with Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controller’s, analytical instrumentation and similar equipment in Kraft Pulp Mills and or Paper Machines would be considered an asset
