Job Description

We are looking for an Industry Advisor who will apply their forest harvesting and wood products manufacturing experience to develop new business opportunities and provide advice to the BC forest products industry, the provincial government and other end-users. The Industry Advisor will work to identify and implement initiatives that include business improvement techniques, technology innovations and other practices that will further stakeholder interests.

Responsibilities

 Transfer knowledge and results from FPInnovations’ research programs to members;

 Improve business performance by recommending and assisting with the implementation of new technology or practices that contribute to the growth of the industry;

 Increase FPInnovations’ membership base and provide opportunities for funding relationships through establishing networks and alliances;

 Analyze statistics, prepare reports and present information to diverse audiences;

 Provide visibility and support for FPInnovations’ activities;

 Manage specific projects within a collaborative team.

Employment Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Forest Resource Management or Wood Products Processing, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Practical experience in woodlands operations is preferred, and an understanding of the BC forest sector and the forest products industry would be an asset.

The successful candidate will also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be well organized and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.

This position is based on Vancouver Island or the Lower Mainland and will require significant travel within southern BC.
