Pushing the limits of technology has made USNR the premier global producer of wood processing equipment.  Ongoing employee training and technological upgrades ensure USNR is at the forefront of the industry.  USNR is seeking a self-motivated Mechanical Field Service Technician to join our Service team in Salmon Arm, BC.    

RESPONSIBILITIES 

►      Independently handles a full range of client activities related to controls 

►      Liaises with clients to handle sawmill equipment efficiency projects including troubleshooting complex technical issues 

►      Provides solution and implementation support from projects initiation through completion including analysis and design 

►      Provides input for estimates for proposals, project schedules and standard pricing 

►      Makes contact with the customer to define the scope of projects, to resolve issues during the approval process and during delivery and start up 

►      Gathers customer specifications and translates these requirements to internal teams 

►      Provides after-hours pager support, as required 

►      Coordinates with mechanical and optimization engineering to ensure project success and models leadership behavior and business thinking 

►      Gathering specifications and creates a drawing set that is in a format that can be used by manufacturing to develop an appropriate solution 

►      Implements technology at client sites and acts as a technical resource for all project related matters 

►      Installs the controls package on site to ensure it works according to standards 

►      Acts as a technical resource on complex matters internally and in the field and mentors Controls Engineers / Designers as needed 

►      Troubleshoots any outstanding routine issues while in the field.  

►      Other duties as required 

REQUIREMENTS 

►      A minimum of three years experience as a Controls Engineer / Designer which includes a broad exposure to different types of projects and products 

►      Experience designing drawing sets 

►      Experience resolving technical issues independently 

►      Sawmill Industry experience is an asset but not required 

►      A Bachelors degree or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering coupled with active membership in an engineering professional association 

►      Advanced skills with two or more of the following programming languages: PLC (Allen-Bradley), HMI (RSView), C, C++, VBA, including the development of programming standards 

►      Autocad or similar programs is an asset 

►      Demonstrated ability to manage client expectations and to act as a company representative in potentially stressful client situations where conflict is present. 

►      Demonstrated ability to work with clients in a proactive responsive way
