Lizzie Bay Logging in Pemberton, BC is looking to hire a full-time ticketed Heavy-Duty Mechanic.

The Heavy-Duty Mechanic repairs, overhauls, maintains and services company pickup trucks, logging trucks, fuel trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, excavators and other machinery. Main responsibilities include diagnosing equipment problems and determining what repairs are needed. The Heavy-Duty Mechanic will demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes. Expectations of our mechanics are high and we require that they act in a professional manner at all times.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Fabricate, construct, install, and repair equipment and machinery
• Diagnose faults/malfunctions/problems and determine extent of repair required
• Demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
• Repair, overhaul, maintain, and service fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, engine control systems, major internal engine repairs or overhaul, installation and alignment of engines and machinery
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
• Service attachments and working tools such as harvesting and tillage equipment, blades, ploughs, winches and side booms
• Practice workplace safety

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal certification as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic
• High School Diploma
• OFA Level 1 First Aid
• Valid Driver's License with a Clean Driver's Abstract
• Experience using Caterpillar Electronic Technician computer software, Caterpillar webSIS tool, along with other diagnostic software
• Must be able to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics related to heavy equipment
• Experience working in a workshop and field service type role considered an asset
• Experience working on a wide range of equipment including--but not limited to--Wheel Loaders, Excavators, Dozers, Dump Trucks, Skidders, Log Loaders, Pickup Trucks, Service Vehicles, Fuel Trucks, Logging Trucks, and all associated heavy equipment
• Must be able to perform Manual Metal Arc and Metal Inert Gas Welding
• Must be able to provide own hand tools
• Ability to maintain service schedules, organize parts orders, and take stock of parts
• Experience servicing and repairing HVAC systems considered an asset
• Willingness to instruct and train apprentices

Compensation

Salary: $28.00 - $32.00/Hourly
