As a member of the Supply Team, the Hauling Analyst is responsible for maintaining the Log Truck GPS monitoring solution across the Forest Management Group.

The Hauling Analyst will ensure the data from our log truck gps units are delivered, processed and available for analysis. Primary duties include; developing and maintaining GPS data transfers, maintaining and building custom gps reports, provide current mapping layers, training staff and contractors across Canfor operations. In addition, the successful candidate will analyze hauling cycle time data and identify opportunities for improvement.

Major Duties:

  • Track status, functionality and location of logging truck GPS units
  • Ensure transfer of data from GPS units to our system is functioning
  • Develop and maintain data processing and spatial overlay scripts
  • Build and maintain summary reports for use by our staff and contractors
  • Use truck GPS data to improve the accuracy of our operational datasets
  • Provide training to staff and hauling contractors on use of the GPS System and data.
  • Complete comparisons of actual cycle time data with appraisal road speeds.
  • Work with staff and gps service providers to understand and implement potential uses for the truck GPS data to improve our business.
Required Skills

University degree or technical school graduate in GIS / Forestry / Computer Science, plus 5 years experience in the related field.

  • Registered RPF or RFT or eligible for registry with ABCFP
  • Self-directed and results oriented
  • Ability to create and manage change
  • Strong customer and strategic focus

Working knowledge of the following specific technologies are required:
