Harvesting Supervisor – Development

 

A full-time, multifaceted role in timber development and harvest supervision

 

Nelson, BC

As Development Harvesting Supervisor, you will be front and centre of our timber development efforts. Working closely with the Woodlands Manager, and leveraging the collegial approach to team work that's become your hallmark, you will direct and plan cutblock layout, road design and mapping. Like us, safety is your first priority and something you are fully committed to modelling and advocating in our team-based environment.

 

In addition to the functions above, your day-to-day responsibilities will include

·       arranging for the timely development and approval of site plans as well as cutting and road permits

·       supervising road building and harvest operations in collaboration with the Senior Harvesting Supervisor

·       handling administrative duties including maintaining records on operations as well as safety and environmental management systems

·       assisting with landscape level planning.

 

A detail, action and results oriented professional with good business acumen, you bring a strong combination of credentials, experience and skills, including:

·       a forestry degree or diploma

·       registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP)

·       3 years' related industry experience (combined summer experience may be considered)

·       commitment to safety and high environmental standards

·       demonstrated computer literacy in ArcGIS, MS Office and database applications, among others

·       strong interpersonal and proven written and verbal communication skills

·       good physical condition

·       ability to lead, work independently and within a team environment

·       Class 5 driver's licence.

 

Salary will be commensurate with experience. This position has a flexible start date, from February 1 to May 1, 2014.
