The Softwood Plantations Division of Forestry Corporation of NSW manages over 200,000 Ha of softwood plantations across NSW supplying over 3.2 million tonnes of log products annually.

The Position: 

The role is responsible for the planning and management of timber harvesting and roading operations in the Bathurst Management Area (nominally a 100km radius of the city of Bathurst, NSW) to ensure that revenue is maximised, the value of the residual tree crop is protected, volume and value recovery is optimised and to ensure an effective road network is available to facilitate efficient log haulage.

The Harvesting & Roading Manager is additionally responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, safety and quality safeguards and relevant regulations, including the development and supervision of harvesting and roading plans and liaison with contractors and stakeholders. Harvesting & Roading Manager reports to the Regional Manager, Northern Softwoods.

The Successful Applicant: The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification.
  • Experience in analysing complex commercial operational and financial problems.
  • A minimum of 5 years equivalent management experience in field operations or logistics management.
  • Extensive relevant experience in operational management of large scale forest operations, preferably in softwood plantations.
  • Leadership skills including the ability to: engender trust, communicate purpose, exercise sound judgement and comprehend complex systems.
  • Management skills including the ability to: communicate, delegate, negotiate, coordinate and report on activities and achieve outcomes.
  • Have experience and capacity to act as a senior operational fire manager
