At the KDL group we have 40 years of resource management experience in forest harvesting, log trucking, road construction, road maintenance, and specialty forest products manufacturing.  Since inception, the KDL Group has remained family-owned and operated, with a strong commitment of service and value to their forest industry customers, clients and partners.

We are rapidly expanding in our Mackenzie operations and looking for a General Manager with an impressive track record to bring our operation to the next level while establishing and maintaining all aspects of the Mackenzie Operation.

Reporting to the President, you will be responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Mackenzie division.  This position has several direct reports including, the Forestry Superintendent, Logging/Equipment Supervisors and Office Administrator.  This role operates at the strategic level with the executive team to accomplish the goals and objectives set forth by the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities will include the following:

§  Provide overall leadership by planning, directing and controlling all activities at the Mackenzie division

§  Manage and negotiate all contract logging obligations while maintaining a high level of customer service

§  Direct all production planning activities including resource scheduling and procurement

§  Ensure efficient resource utilization and while continually reviewing and analyzing new business opportunities

§  Oversee forestry staff in Mackenzie regarding tenure management and ensuring customer satisfaction and contractual obligations are met

§  Manage day to day forestry department functions in conjunction with the forestry superintendent

§  Lead, inspire and motivate staff to effectively achieve overall goals while focusing on continuous improvement initiatives

§  Contribute and manage the annual operating and capital budget

§  Develop and ensure that all Company safety policies and programs are adhered to and ensure that a positive safety and environmental culture is maintained

§  Ensure cost effectiveness and consistency with quality, accuracy and performance standards

§  Maintain and improve an effective preventive maintenance system that maximizes equipment efficiency and reliability and ensures efficient management of resources

Qualifications:

§  We are looking for a dynamic manager with 10 years experience in the resource industry with progressive experience in a management role

§  Registered in a professional forestry, resource or engineering designation

§  Business savvy in the forestry business and logging practices is an asset.

§  Excellent communication skills.

§  Strong team builder that exhibits confidence in self and others; inspires and motivates others to perform

§  Proven track record with successful background in negotiations, delivering results and maintaining operational efficiencies

§  Desire to build employee and customer relationships and deliver great customer service
