Conifex is a young company establishing itself within the Canadian forest industry with a focus in the manufacture of structural grade SPF dimension lumber. Their operations are conducted in a sustainable, safe and environmentally sound manner and they include timber harvesting, reforestation, forest management, sawmilling and value added lumber finishing.

To date, Conifex has demonstrated this commitment through innovative business ventures including their decision to address lumber price fluctuations by investing $127 Million in a bioenergy generation plant which enabled them to sign an agreement in 2012 with BC Hydro to supply 200GWh of electrical energy from their bioenergy generation plant.
The power plant is adjacent to their Mackenzie sawmill complex. The location of the sawmill enables Conifex to take advantage of the Mackenzie TSA where they benefit from access to high quality fibre baskets with lower incidence of beetle infestation. As part of their growth and to take advantage of their strong fibre position, Conifex is now ready to add a General Manager who will be responsible for the sawmill operation. The plant currently produces 260 MMFBM with access to fibre that will sustain production capacity levels of 400 MMFBM.
Reporting to the Vice President Operations, the GM will be responsible to manage the Mackenzie Solidwood operations, including fibre and woodlands operations. The GM will be mandated to ensure optimal results on Safety and HR leadership while ensuring efficient management of logging costs, manufacturing costs, grade and lumber recovery, as well as the maximization of by-product revenues.
Conifex is committed to their growth and therefore is looking for a GM with a track record of exceptional leadership skills and demonstrated operational excellence. The experience may have come from a senior level role within the forestry industry, mining or oil & gas environment. You are results focused with a natural ability to think and plan in alignment with business strategic priorities and the ability to bring innovation and continuous improvement initiatives. You are comfortable negotiating and managing complex contracts and supply agreements, and are capable of building relationships at all levels within the organization and managing external relationships with government (Federal, Provincial, Municipal), regulatory bodies, and First Nations. Finally, Conifex is looking for a leader who displays personal integrity and high ethical standards in all their dealings.
