Forestry Technician (Technologists & Technicians)

The preferred applicant will have experience and interest in coastal timber development, harvesting and silviculture activities.

The field working environment will regularly require working in rugged steep coastal terrain and at times require travel in boats, float planes and helicopters.

The successful applicant must have strong teamwork, motivation, organizational abilities, initiative, ability to work in an environment of change, ability to work with a range of personalities and have a positive attitude.

This individual must put a high value on data integrity and have an aptitude towards forestry systems management.

Qualifications & Experience: 

Technical Diploma in a resource management related field (i.e., geography, environmental studies, biology, resource management, forestry) and at least 2 years (gained over the last 5 years) experience conducting coastal road and cut block engineering/development, road construction, silviculture or harvest monitoring; OR,

An equivalent combination of education or experience such as, five or more years of operational forestry experience in one or more of the following areas: conducting coastal road and cut block engineering/development, road construction, silviculture or harvest monitoring.

Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Forester or Forest Technologist with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP). Preference may be given to applicants currently registered with ABCFP.

Preference may be given for demonstrated recent timber development or harvesting experience in rugged BC Coastal terrain.

Compensation

$15 to $30/hr DOE
