Forestry Supervisor — Scaling 

A senior forest management role supervising log scaling and waste activities 

Fort St. John, BC or Grande Prairie, AB

This permanent position is within the Canfor Forest Management Group and can be located in either Fort St. John, BC or Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Demonstrating top-level leadership, communication and project management, you will deliver the scaling and waste programs for Canfor's BC and Alberta operations. As you report to the Scaling Coordinator within Canfor's Forest Management Group, you'll find innovative ways to achieve efficiencies and continuous improvement as well as ensure all activities meet performance targets and comply with operational plans, company policies and legal requirements.

As a scaling, utilization and waste residue supervisor, you will:

  • develop and deliver the utilization and waste residue plan
  • audit sample scales and assess log quality
  • participate in developing annual budgets to achieve business plan
  • targets
  • ensure compliance with operational plans, company policies and legal
  • requirements
  • ensure all activities comply with Canfor’s Environmental Policy,
  • Forestry Principles and Environmental Management System
  • focus on achieving all targets set out in our performance management
  • systems
  • demonstrate innovation by implementing efficiencies and cost savings
  • through Canfor performance management processes and Continuous
  • improvement initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • a strong work ethic and a high degree of professionalism
  • experience in the assessment and delivery of the BC Waste and
  • Residue program
  • excellent leadership, communication and project management skills,
  • with the ability to work within a team environment
  • proficiency with computers and forestry applications
  • a valid class 5 driver’s licence.
  • a degree or technical diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related
  • forestry experience (an asset)
  • current BC scaling licence (an asset).
