Forestry Supervisor - Planning

This is a permanent position available immediately. The Forestry Supervisor is a member of the Forest Management Group (FMG) Planning group, responsible for planning activities to support North Region fiber acquisition.
MAJOR DUTIES:
As a member of the FMG Planning Team your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct both field and office activities which relate to Planning, including block design and reconnaissance in a safe and productive manner.
- Assist in the management of Canfor’s Sustainable Forest Management Plan and Forest Operations Schedule.
- Ensure compliance with operational plans, company policy and legal requirements.
- Work and form positive relationships with Internal Customers, Team members, External Customers, First Nations, Government Agencies, the Public and other Stakeholders.
- Achieve key performance measures by applying the principles of performance management.
- Preparing budgets and managing costs within your specific responsibilities.
- Participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives and other team projects as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will bring the following experience and expertise:
- University Degree or Technical Diploma with a minimum of 5 years forestry experience.
- Excellent leadership, communication & project management skills, with the ability to work within a team environment.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable B.C. legislation and policies.
- Proficient in using a computer & related software and forestry applications.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license *applicants are asked to submit a current driver’s abstract with their resume
Preference may be given to those with extensive experience across a spectrum of forestry work including cutting permit acquisition, harvesting and silviculture, in addition to a strong planning background.
