T.J.’s Oilfield Contracting Limited is seeking to hire experienced individuals into the position of Forestry Mechanic at our Maintenance Shop in Janvier, Alberta.

The work cycle for this position will be 14/14 i.e. Staff housing and Flight Allowance will be provided.

Position Summary:
This position reports to the Shop Maintenance Foreman, Maintenance Shop in Janvier, AB.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess extensive experience in heavy equipment maintenance
  • Maintenance experience specific to forestry including mulchers, bunchers, delimbers, skidders, and other heavy equipment is a must.
  • Diagnose equipment problems
  • Disassemble and reassemble components such as engine, transmission, cooling system, fuel and exhaust systems, clutch and differential etc.
  • Effective planning, organizing and implementation skills
  • Possess ability to work under tight deadlines, under pressure and stressful conditions
  • Responsible to ensure that the HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) standards of the company and the clients are met or exceeded
  • Strong safety orientation and diligent in pro-active identification and resolution of hazards and safety issues
  • Adherence to established policies, procedures and safe work practices
  • Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings and review planned activities for the day with the Maintenance Foreman
  • Actively participate in hazard identification, equipment inspection and properly completing the required safety documentation
  • Ensure that all the necessary required documentation has been reviewed and signed-off prior to beginning the tasks or new jobs
  • Possess good inter-personal skill to work well with fellow technicians
  • Must possess a positive “Can Do” attitude
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Maintenance Foreman

Qualifications:

  • High school and Valid Interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification or Heavy Duty Technician journeyman certification or equivalent

Or

Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice (Year 2-4)

  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Previous industrial construction-mining-oilfield equipment maintenance experience would be an asset

Safety ticket requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Minimum Class 5) and clean Driver’s Abstract
  • CSTS/PCST (it can be taken on-line from Alberta Construction Safety Association)
  • Valid H2S Alive by Enform (H2S Awareness is not acceptable)
  • Standard First Aid Course of two days duration.
  • WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System). In case the applicant does not possess WHMIS Ticket, then this WHMIS Training can be provided during TJ’s Orientation upon hiring
  • TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods). In case the applicant does not possess TDG Ticket, then this TDG Training can be provided during TJ’s Orientation upon hiring

Once the candidate has been finalized for hiring into a position, then the following are required:

  • Current five panel Drug & Alcohol Test Result, must be urine based and completed within one week prior to hiring date at the cost of the applicant.
  • A clean Driver’s Abstract (obtained within one week prior to hiring date) at the cost of the applicant
