Forestry Controller (Accounting & Finance)

Full Time

  Impact Recruitment Inc

  Multiple Locations, British Columbia, Canada

Are you looking to keep an eye on the job market but not sure you have the time? Are you worried that your current employer will discover that you’re looking? Do you feel that your resume isn’t being reviewed by the right people at the companies you apply to?
We are currently looking for strong Controllers in the Forestry Industry who are looking to expand their careers and continue challenging themselves. One of Impact Recruitment’s strongest niche areas is Forestry and as a result, we have formed extremely strong relationships with most of the strong forestry companies. Accountants already working in the forestry industry will have particularly strong synergies with the roles that we work on and pursue.
Years of experience: 5+ to 7 years
The types of Controllers who have been extremely successful working with us usually have a combination of the following skills:
  •             A formal accounting designation or enrollment in a designation program
  •             2+ years of experience working in a Forestry role
  •             Forestry experience
  •             Fluency in English with strong written English skills. The ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals is key
  •             Very good software skills

Job duties and experience will often vary quite drastically depending on the level of the role but typically we look for some combination of the following job duties on resumes:
  •             Full cycle accounting as it pertains to a mill site: financial reporting, month end, year end, reconciliations, and oversight of AP and AR
  •             Budgeting and Forecasting
  •             Cash Flow reporting
  •             Communication with key stakeholders in regards to project progress

The type of product, size of the operation and scope of work will always make a difference in the type of role we consider candidates for. In addition to skill set, intangibles such as personality and cultural fit will often play a large role as well. The roles we work on vary drastically and a common motto in our office is: “there is a job for every candidate”. If your experience isn’t a perfect match, or if a role in forestry is a goal, submit a resume, we can still chat about how to achieve your goal.

If you think that a career in Forestry is right for you, we urge you to apply. The benefits of working with Impact include…
  •             Insight to the job market, common salary brackets and access to roles which are not posted publicly
  •             Access to a specialized network and direct access to key decision makers within companies
  •             Confidentiality and discretion in your job search
  •             Assistance with resume formatting, interviewing techniques, information on hiring managers, insight into company culture and compensation negotiation
Beyond all else, you have an expert on your side who can introduce you to new companies, ensure that your interview process continues to move forward and give you feedback on your applications.
Right now we are looking to have conversations with strong candidates to gage what their career goals are. Once we have had that conversation we can keep you in the loop about the type of opportunities you want to hear about. If you love what you are doing and would only make a move if the opportunity is PERFECT, we still want to hear from you. When the role down the street from your house with a higher salary range opens up, we will give you a call and let you know.
