Job Description:

The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority requires an individual to coordinate the operations of the 11,000-acre Ganaraska Forest located north of Port Hope, Ontario.  This includes the updating, implementation and monitoring of the Forest Management Plan.
 
Responsibilities:

• Administer and coordinate the operations of the Ganaraska Forest
• Carry out the requirements of the Forest Management Plan including coordinating required updates of the plan and maintain eligibility for Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program
• Responsible for the maintenance of the Forest including tree marking, cut inspections, forest health, forest prescriptions, tendering wood products and keeping up-to-date records
• Coordinating and administering the timber contracts for the Ganaraska Forest
• Develop and support forestry extension services

Qualifications:

• Degree or certificate in related discipline and/or equivalent experience is required
• A RPF (Registered Professional Forester) designation or associate with the Ontario Professional Foresters Association with a scope of practice appropriate for the position
• Possession of the provincial tree marking certificate and chainsaw certificate
• Managed Forest Plan Approver would be an asset
• Applicants should have excellent communications skills and ability to work with the public 
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Offices software and working knowledge of GIS software and applications
• The successful applicant must be able to adapt to an environment of change and work well independently as well as in a team environment
• A valid Province of Ontario drivers licence is also required
