Forester (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

Job Responsibilities:
  •  Marks timber sale boundaries, SMZ’s, etc., in compliance with state BMP’s and SFI requirements.
  •  Conducts timber inventories.
  •  Supervises contract operations to ensure compliance with the terms of the contracts.
  •  Completes timber sale inspections.
  •  Collects GPS field data as required.
  •  Implement cultural and management treatments associated with optimal stand development, asset protection and overall income contribution within constraints of SFI.
  •  Provide support to FRC management in the development of strategic business plans and opportunities for growth.
  •  Maintain a thorough knowledge of land and timber values in area of operation as well as new technologies and strategies in forest management.
  •  Manage special projects as assigned.
  •  Promote a positive image of FRC to clients, associates, contractors, and the community in your operating area.
Qualifications: 
Requirements:
  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or 2 year Forestry Degree.
  •  Prefer, Three to six years experience in managing timberland in southeastern states
  •  Practical experience in SFI practices and recordkeeping
  •  Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and ability to inspire clients’ confidence
  •  Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  •  Working knowledge of standard computer software packages, i.e., Word, Excel, Access Skills
Required:
  • Must be proficient in technical forestry skills.
  • Understands cost/profit relationship in area of responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills clearly demonstrating the ability to work with contractors and associates.
  • Excellent analytical skills associated with problem identification and analysis of solutions.
  • Motivated to plan and accomplish work with a minimum degree of supervision.
  • Exhibits strong work ethic and pride in work quality.
  • Demonstrates innovation, creativity, and balanced judgment.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in timberland management decision making
