Potomac Supply is a modern integrated southern pine sawmill operation encompassing three state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities: Sawmill, Planer mill and Pellet manufacturing. Key Functions:
Assist in maintaining a consistent and sustained flow of Southern Yellow Pine wood fiber to support 65 mmbf of sawmill production. Timber cruising, log merchandizing, contract negotiation and timber harvesting coordination.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Forestry or Forestry Engineering or related field
- 1 – 5 years of experience in the field is preferred
- Strong knowledge of log and lumber grades
- Knowledge of value extraction fundamentals in wood products, specifically sawmills
- Knowledge and experience with timber cruising and timber stand evaluation
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office with working knowledge of timber cruising tools
- Excellent analytical skills
- Well developed negotiation skills
- Knowledge of timber harvest systems
- Ability to work safely
- Strong skills in problem solving, ability to work through conflict
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong communications skills – written and oral
- Personal, team and contractor safety compliance is required
