Our client is currently looking for a Forester to join their team at their facility near Dawson Creek BC.

JOB LOCATION:

This position is located near Dawson Creek, British Columbia. With many places to explore, ski and fish, this is the ideal community for the adventurous. Whether you prefer to visit heritage sites, bird watch, hike, shop or just camp, the opportunities in picturesque Dawson Creek are endless.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a supervisory role in which you will lead, plan, and manage all district resource activities.  You will maintain healthy and productive timberlands using prescribed forestry practices to supply the raw material to the mills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to manage the harvesting, silviculture, land protection and site preparation operations.
• Oversee timber stand improvements including the fertilization and spraying of herbicides.
• Negotiate contracts and budgetary forecasting.
• Lead and coordinate special projects as assigned, such as fee land planning,
• Possess the ability to complete inventory analysis or GIS data gathering.
• Ability to control comprehensive management reports; assists with strategic planning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong Supervisory experience
• Ability to Project manage
• Have superior knowledge of silviculture practices and all fire control techniques.
• Strong land surveying and mapping skills.
• Operate a wide range of heavy equipment.
• Possess strong computer and software skills.
• You will require a Commercial Driver’s License. 

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or other related field.

EXPERIENCE and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• 3 - 5 years' forestry experience.
• Strong supervisory experience.
• Frequent travel will be required (50%).
• This position is in an outdoor environment.
