This position will be primarily involved with log procurement and timber sale acquisition. Duties will lean heavily to field work and applicant must be able to cover ground on sometimes difficult terrain.
Southport primarily works in Coos, Curry, Douglas and Lane Counties, but sometimes further afield.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Timber Cruising
- Unit and skyline thinning layout
- Assist Procurement Forester with timber sale appraisal and administration
- Road and logging contract administration
Necessary Skills:
- Oral and written communication
- Ability to work alone with minimal supervision
- Understanding of logging systems, especially thinning
- Basic competence with computers, specifically Microsoft Office. Experience with GIS and GPS systems also beneficial
- Good driving history
Education:
An Associates degree in Forestry preferred, but will consider applicants with 2 or more years employment in a relevant field.
