Bring your forestry operations experience to this exciting opportunity. A rewarding opportunity exists for an experienced forest technologist in the community of Chilliwack.

The mission of BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is to develop and market Crown timber to establish the costs of development and the market price to capture the value of the asset for the public. The vision of the organization is to be an effective timber marketer generating wealth through sustainable resource management.

As the Forest Technologist, you will perform a variety of technical and operational duties to support the planning, engineering, layout, auction, harvest and reforestation activities. Your technical expertise related to forestry will assist you in everything from maintaining information systems and monitoring harvest activities. As part of a high-functioning, multidisciplinary field team, you will perform various activities required to develop timber sale licenses and support field team operations. You are an effective communicator, who works closely with clients and stakeholders, participate on a variety of working groups and prepare and present technical reports.

To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have the following:

A diploma or degree in resource or forestry management and two years of current (gained in last five years) experience in one or more of operational field forestry activities (such as tenure field development, harvest operations, engineering, silviculture, timber tenure administration and contracted services administration) OR,

An equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of five years of experience in forestry activities;

Preference may be given to those who are a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the Association of BC Forest Professionals or eligible for full registration immediately upon employment with the ministry.

Must possess a valid BC Drivers License.

Preference may be given to candidates with more than one field of forestry experience.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in contract monitoring and administration.
