Part Time

  Trees Atlanta

  Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Potential Start Date: Mid- to Late-July
Reports to: Field Supervisor
Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit citizens' group that protects and improves Atlanta's urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating.
Founded in 1985, Trees Atlanta works tirelessly to address Atlanta's tree loss, protect its forests, and create new greenspace. Empowered by its wonderful community of volunteers, Trees Atlanta serves the metro Atlanta area, and has grown to become one of Atlanta's most widely known and supported non-profit organizations.
Job Description: The Forest Restoration Specialist will assist the field supervisor in performing activities specific to Trees Atlanta's Restoration Program, including invasive vegetation management (manual and chemical management), planting and maintenance of native trees, shrubs, seedlings, and groundcover, and other special projects such as erosion control and irrigation.
The Forest Restoration Specialist position is part-time, 32 hours per week. Potential start date is mid- to late-July. The position starts with a 90-day probationary period.
Employment Qualifications:
The Forest Restoration Specialist will primarily work and train under the field supervisor, but the ability to work independently will also be required.
Prior experience working outdoors or with plants is helpful, but on-the-job training will be provided.
As restoration work often involves steep slopes, thick vegetation, extremes of temperature, heavy labor, use of motorized equipment, and encounters with wildlife, the ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and will thrive under challenging tasks.
This candidate will also hold a clean driving record and an updated tetanus shot.
