This is a permanent full time staff role based in Saint John, NB.

Reporting to the Chief Forester, the Forest Resource or GIS Analyst will support our long term forestry planning and day to day analyses. Strong interpretive, planning and communication skills are essential. The position requires a minimum 5 years of experience in Canada’s forest industry and a post-secondary education with a natural resource management or GIS focus.

Working with the Woodlands Team, you will work closely with management and operations staff to provide forestry business knowledge and technical analysis that offers innovative and meaningful solutions. You will have exceptional planning and organizing, attention to detail, communication skills as well as an ability to analyze complex data into practical knowledge that supports informed decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Involved in forest management planning & maintaining accurate forest
  • Respond to queries and provide support to Regional and Corporate staff
  • Involved in integration and optimization of tactical operating plans

Requirements, Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the environmental/ natural resources sector
  • Post-secondary education
  • Experience with software products from most or all of the following suppliers: ESRI, Remsoft and Microsoft
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision
  • Strong background in statistical analysis
  • Project management experience would be considered an asset
