Forest Operations Supervisor Wanted 

We are looking for Forest Operations Professional for Central Alberta forest products facility 

Our clients are seeking forest management professionals to help them with supervision & completion of harvesting and road building activities for their woodlands operations and forest products facilities in Central Alberta. The position is field & office based and is supported by a team of forest professionals and a progressive Woodlands Manager who is committed to operational excellence and supporting staff with career growth.

The ideal candidate has intermediate (4-5 years) forest operations supervisory experience, has a good knowledge of business and forest products manufacturing processes and outstanding communications skills. The candidate will be a key part of a woodlands management team and will be supported by a variety of other experienced forestry staff but must have the ability to work independently on a regular basis.   

Position Key Duties and Abilities: 

·         Supervision of contract harvesting and road building activities and all post-harvest operations;

·         Directing and managing contractors and seasonal staff across the land base in their operational duties;

·         Communication with appropriate government agencies with regard to operations on the land base;

·         Excellent understanding of business principles and forest product manufacturing processes;

·         Ensuring that corporate safety, EMS and forest certification objectives are carried out on the land base;

·         Ability to tackle multiple complex tasks and work with a minimum of supervision is required;

·         Strong leadership skills including communications and interpersonal skills are required;

·         Excellent work ethic and ability to work with and motivate others is key;

·         A commitment to crew and personal safety is mandatory. 

Education and Qualifications Sought 

·         Four year Bachelor of Forestry or Forest Engineering and/or a two year forest technical diploma and registration or eligibility with CAPF or CAPFT;

·         Minimum of 4-5 years related forestry experience including harvest block and road engineering experience and/or forest operations supervision is required;

·         Experience managing multiple operational activities independently;

·         Experience in remote work situations in a variety of weather and climatic conditions is mandatory;

·         Experience with SFI and ISO 14001 certification programs is beneficial;

·         A commitment to the principles of good forest stewardship and sustainable forest management is mandatory.

Compensation

Salary: $75-90,000 annually plus excellent benefits programs including RRSP’s and profit sharing.
