Job Description: 
The Forestland Group (TFG), a timberland investment manager (www.forestlandgroup.com), is developing a permanent inventory plot network across its forestlands to inform future forest management decisions and improve forest management activities.
TFG is seeking seasonal student or recent graduate interns to install and collect data from these inventory plots across managed forests in Arkansas and other southeastern states.
Additional responsibilities will include data entry and analysis, as well as the completion and presentation of a project of the intern’s choosing that is related to the data collected during the internship.
There will be occasional opportunities for timber and boundary marking and other field practices.
This internship offers exposure to a large timberland manager, several regional forestry consultants, and valuable opportunities to learn and practice forestry field skills.
Qualifications: 
* Applicant should be enrolled in upper division courses or recently graduated from a forestry program at the college or university level.
* Knowledge of and experience with dendrology and plant identification, basic forest mensuration, GPS, GIS, and Microsoft Office suite.
* Ability and willingness to live and work in remote, mosquito- and snake-infested, forested environments in inclement weather. Really.
* 4WD vehicle.
* Prior internships and/or volunteer experience in forestry or a related natural resource setting.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
* Interest and ability in data analysis.

Compensation

Salary: $14/hour
