Timberlands Pacific is a leading Australian operated independent Forest Management Company with particular expertise in forest management and operations on a significant scale. 

Timberlands Pacific manages 90,000 hectares of P.radiata, across three states including Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria. Timberlands Pacific is recruiting to strengthen its technical capacity across its Launceston (TAS), Mount Gambier (SA) office and Rotorua (NZ) offices. 

A Forest Information Officer is sought to provide technical assistance and analytical support to Timberland’s Pacific teams in Mount Gambier and Tasmania including the provision of GIS and forest information system training, documentation and project support. 

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Management of Timberlands Pacific Geographic and Information Systems (GIS).
  • Develop and Support IT solutions across the regions entailing data transfer from field mobile equipment.
  • Technical support on GIS applications and forest database management.
  • Ensure all GIS metadata is maintained to the appropriate ANZLIC standard.
  • Manage GeoMaster stand record databases to aa higher standard to support business planning and timely and accurate reporting.
  • Review and develop systems to allow easy production of operational maps via use of existing and newly developed mapping tools.
  • Provide technical support for project work as required with new business opportunities.
  • Liaise with developers of GIS and forest information data systems.

Serious consideration will be given to applicants with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Forestry Science, Agricultural or Spatial fields
  • Excellent GIS, database and data management skills
  • Excellent Access, Powerpoint and Excel skills
  • Good Word skills.
