About the Position
As a Forest Analyst you will support MB&G’s inventory management, perform biometrics analysis, assist timberland appraisals, and provide expert witness work on projects throughout the world. In this role, you will perform the following tasks:
- Conduct and/or manage periodic updates of stand-based inventory systems.
- Assist in the design of timber cruises to meet information needs and satisfy time and cost constraints.
- Assist in the evaluation and calibration of forest growth models for inventory update and silvicultural planning.
- Conduct inventory analyses to support appraisals.
- Design, develop, test and document forest inventory and data management software.
- Provide assistance in applied statistics to foresters, biologists and other natural resources professionals.
- Assist with various tasks as assigned to ensure successful project completion. May be asked to work directly with clients about project specifications and progress.
- Actively promotes MB&G as a premier provider of natural resources consulting services.
- Assist clients with software support.
- Develop yield tables to support harvest scheduling.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Desired Skills
- Intermediate skill in statistical methods/procedures, such as regression analysis, research statistics and inventory design.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Intermediate technical report writing and editing skills.
- Operates independently under minimal supervision.
- Responsive and client service oriented.
- Intermediate MS Office Skills (especially Excel and Access)
- Basic understanding of GIS
- Enthusiastic, energetic, team-oriented individual.
Education/Experience
- B.S. Degree (M.S. preferred) in Forest Management, or related natural resources field.
- 1-3 years in forestry related position
- Combination of education and experience.
