Field Forester (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

Western Forest Products Inc. is currently seeking a Field Forester to join our Port McNeill Forest Operation, located in Port McNeill, BC.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Forester, this highly motivated individual will be an integral part of the planning team and assist with the following key functions:

  • Support and participate in a culture of safety and stewardship leadership
  • Actively participate in a team environment that shares information, welcomes creativity and challenges the status quo
  • Complete and peer review Site Plans, assessments and other operational plans
  • Plan, implement and report on various post-harvest silviculture activities
  • Ensure consistency of the planning process with higher level planning requirements, including government legislation and EMS/CSA certification
  • Organize and supervise various forestry consultants

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Extraordinary personal standards and expectations
  • Must have a degree or diploma in forestry from a recognized post-secondary institution and be a registered member in good standing with the ABCFP
  • A minimum of 3 years of Coastal forestry experience
  • Must be able to withstand the demands of coastal field work
  • Experience with GPS plus CENFOR, ArcView and Plant Wizard software would be considered an asset
