Fibre Optimization Manager (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

Centered at Prince George, British Columbia and reporting to the Senior VP Operations, the Fibre Optimization Manager, is responsible for the optimization of fibre deliveries to the plants.  This position will focus on the implementation of formal performance management methodologies (KPIs, dashboards, action planning) as it relates to fibre acquisitions.  Working with individual Plant Managers, the incumbent will evaluate all aspects of fibre process to improve the quality, production, efficiency and profitability of each of the plants.  Through analysis, business knowledge and process improvement expertise, the manager is a change agent who helps guide senior management in decision making and problem solving.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

·         Gather and analyze information, anticipate and recognize opportunities and problems, evaluate and create alternatives, make appropriate decisions regarding processes, while exercising financial prudence, confidentiality and discretion

·         Responsible for generating improved fibre management performance in the areas of safety, quality, cost and on-time delivery

·         Develop and maintain performance metrics in order to make recommendations to senior management

·         Use metrics to evaluate operational and financial impact of proposed decisions to the plants

·         Action focused to implement specific solutions to achieve the required result

·         Work with Stakeholders (Internal & External) to generate continuous improvement in the key areas of Freight Optimization and Fibre Quality 

Experience and Education: 

·         Minimum three years experience in performance management (six sigma, lean etc.)

·         Primary wood industry experience would be an asset

·         Quality control background would be considered an asset

·         A degree in engineering; business; forestry / wood science; advanced wood processing or other relevant post-secondary education 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

·         Proficient in KPI’s; dashboards; process optimization

·         Operationally hands-on; quality control style focus

·         Ability to meet deadlines and operate in a dynamic, high paced environment

·         Ability to work with minimal direct supervision

·         Ability to work well in a team environment
