Fibre Manager (Management & Executives)

Pacific BioEnergy operates one of the world’s largest wood pellet facilities (350,000 tonne/year) in Prince George B.C. servicing the over-seas industrial wood pellet market. In conjunction with operating the Prince George facility PBEC holds significant Forest License assets and related business activities in the Quesnel Timber Supply Area.  Located in Prince George, reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Vice-President-Operations, Pacific BioEnergy is looking for an individual to fill the position of Fibre Manager to lead up the fibre procurement program for the Prince George facility, actively manage the operational aspects of the company’s Quesnel Forest Licenses and associated Quesnel business initiatives. This multi-faceted role will involve participation in whole log wood chipping operations, First Nation joint venture management, log marketing and overall fibre procurement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor quality and production of all contracted fibre suppliers for the Prince George facility.  Work with PBEC staff  to optimize the contracted fibre through appropriate trading activities and logistics rationalization.
  • Manage all contract logging operations and ensure all environmental, safety and forest practices compliance of the company’s Forest License assets.
  • Manage the quality and production aspects of the company’s external business initiatives in Quesnel inclusive of a whole log wood chipping operation and participation in the company’s First Nation joint venture business partnership.
  • Establishing and maintaining a relationship with residual fibre suppliers, pulp wood markets, logging contractors and government agencies.

    Requirements:

  • Forestry or Associate Forestry degree with four years of operational forestry experience.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple locations to manage on-the-ground forestry and manufacturing activities.
  • Familiar with Operational business and accounting practises
  • Strong skills in problem solving and ability to work through complex contractual and operational issues.
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working independently and in a team environment.
