THE COMPANY

Estsek' Environmental Services LLP (Estsek’) is an environmental services firm which provides a full range of services to clients primarily in the North Thompson region. Estsek’ offers scientific, technical, and management experience and expertise to deliver practical environmental solutions to clients in the resource industries. Estsek's multi-disciplinary team comprises environmental professionals specializing in aquatic and terrestrial biology, environmental assessment, environmental monitoring, and resource management. Estsek' is a Limited Liability Partnership formed between Simpcw Resources LLP (SRLLP) and Triton

Environmental Consultants Ltd. and has offices in Barriere and Kamloops, BC.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Estsek' is looking for an Environmental Technician to support a wide range of project work with a focus on land development issues. The ideal candidate will have strong field skills and be able to work independently or in a team setting. Primary responsibilities will involve field assessments, as well as providing office support for literature reviews, data analysis, and report writing.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position administered through SRLLP. There is an expectation that the candidate will work mainly out of the office in Kamloops, as well as traveling to the Barriere office and field sites as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collection of field data for fisheries, vegetation, water quality, and wildlife assessments
  • Environmental monitoring in accordance with specified protocols on a variety of small and large projects, including liaising with clients and contractors
  • Photo documentation, data management, and analysis of scientific data
  • Preparation of technical reports and proposals
  • Following standards for the design, production, and delivery of services
  • Operation and maintenance of a variety of scientific equipment

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in aquatic or terrestrial biology, forestry, or related science
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Environmental monitoring and erosion & sediment control certification or experience

  • Positive, team-oriented approach, and desire to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines
  • Valid technical and safety certifications such as First Aid, Electrofishing, H2S Alive, Bear Aware, WHMIS, TDG, Swift Water Rescue, Ice Rescue Technician, ATV Operator, etc.
  • Ability/willingness to travel to field sites and other office locations
  • Experience navigating using GPS unit, map, compass, and air photo
