Our client is a leading global supplier of pulp and paper products with operations in the central interior of British Columbia. They own and operate several mills in northern BC which are among the lowest cost NBSK pulp producers in the industry.

Our client is the largest North American and fourth largest global producer of market NBSK Pulp and is the leading producer of fully bleached, high performance Kraft Paper.

Position Details:

This position reports directly to the Section Manager- Electrical Engineering, and will be expected to work with a high level of independence and decision making. The majority of direction will be provided by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and safety practices

This position will have no direct reports but may supervise electricians, contractors and consultants on occasion.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include:

• Assist with day to day activities related to Electrical maintenance engineering
• Minor PLC programming changes and troubleshooting
• Project engineer for several electrical projects in both the mine and concentrator
• Assist with electrical portion of large engineering projects
• Ensure all projects meet or exceed all applicable safety standards
• Assist with short & long term capital project plans and budgets
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, dealers and original equipment manufacturers
Experience:

The incumbent will have 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role or a role with progressive amounts of responsibility and has previous experience on large scale equipment. Experience in heavy industry and exposure to a unionized environment are considered assets. 

Educational Requirements:

The incumbent will have a degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution and holds a membership to an Engineering Professional Association or is eligible to be a member of Professional Engineers (APEGBC) (other combinations of education and experience will also be considered).

Working Conditions and Other Requirements:

• Ability to work in a team environment and cross functional teams
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficiency in or ability to learn Computerized Maintenance Management System’s
• Willing to travel and attend training and/or conferences
• Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD program is an asset
