Ash Creek Forest Management, LLC is a locally owned, ecological restoration services company dedicated to recovery of Pacific Northwest habitats. Since 1997, we have restored and managed thousands of acres of wetlands, riparian forests and woodlands, helping develop best management practices now used across the region. We pay our staff living wages and provide professional training and certification in plant identification, reestablishment and stewardship.

We are seeking ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION CREW MEMBERS with skills and experience to assist with plant installation, weed control and monitoring of ecological restoration projects in the greater Portland metro area.

Title: ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION CREW MEMBER

Location: Tigard, Oregon and locations throughout the greater Portland Metro Area

Transportation: Provide own transportation to work sites, Tigard office or other planned locations

Job Description:

  • Apply herbicides for careful and judicious control of noxious and invasive plants
  • Plant bare-root trees and shrubs
  • Install container plants, plugs and bulbs
  • Collect and install native pole cuttings
  • Maintain native plantings with hand-tools, power tools and backpack spray of herbicide
  • Chainsaw cutting of weeds and trees
  • Repair, clean and maintain all hand and power tools in operating condition
  • Operate company tractors, ATVs and trucks
  • Identify native and noxious/invasive plants
  • Collect native plant seed
  • Other general labor duties as requested

Experience/Qualifications (Required):

  • Ability, motivation and endurance for eight to ten hour days of productive manual labor
  • Ability to work outdoors, across uneven terrain and during inclement weather
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Ability/experience using hand and power tools (Chainsaw, shovel, hoedad, etc.)
  • Ability to safely lift 60 lbs.
  • Valid drivers license

Experience/Qualifications (Desired):

  • Chemical Applicator’s License (OR) and skill with herbicide application methods
  • Ability to navigate the urban and rural Portland metro area
  • Knowledge of Oregon native plants and habitats
  • Math skills and organizational ability
  • Spanish/English language skills
  • First AID/CPR certification
  • Horticultural skills

Compensation

Status: Full-time

Salary: $13.50/hour (to $15.00/hr after 2-month training period)
