Divisional Accountant (Accounting & Finance)

GENERAL:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Divisional Accountant is a key member of Canal Flats management team, responsible for the full range of operational, financial and management accounting, reporting, analysis and administration support.

The Divisional Accountant’s primary focus is to provide relevant internal and external financial and statistical analysis and information and to participate in value-added decision support.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Prepare financial statements and reports for review
• Assist with preparation of the annual business plan, monthly/quarterly/yearly forecasting, weekly cost report and capital approval processes
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and IFRS based GAAP
• Capital Asset and Major Maintenance tracking
• General Ledger account reconciliations
• Coach operations personnel on financial matters related to their area of responsibility
• Assist department heads and supervisors in departmental budget control, cost/benefit analysis and financial information and recommendations
• May include supervision of administration staff

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will bring the following experience and expertise:

• Recognized accounting designation is preferred; intermediate to senior level students with a commitment to complete their designation will be considered
• 4+ years of professional accounting experience
• Advanced computer skills (MS Office)
• Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
