District Forester

Our Forestry Division, Camino District, has an opening for a qualified Forester to help manage the Company’s timberlands in El Dorado and Placer counties. The successful applicant will be required to work out of the Camino office.
PRIMARY DUTIES
• Preparation of Timber Harvest Plans (THPs).
• Administration of contracts, including logging, road construction and reforestation.
• Miscellaneous forestry-related project work requiring demanding physical activity.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A California Registered Professional Forester or the ability to qualify for and take the RPF exam within 2 years.
• Knowledge of native species of Sierra Nevada forests.
• Knowledge of the THP process and experience in preparing THPs.
• Familiarity with California’s Forest Practice Rules and other environmental laws.
• Understanding of logging, road construction and reforestation techniques and operations.
• Ability to hike and navigate alone in rugged, remote areas using maps, compass or GPS.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a “team” member.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and GIS-based software programs helpful.
• Ability to communicate and work with regulatory agencies and contractors.
• Have a valid California driver’s license and ability to drive hazardous mountain roads.
