ROLE:

  • Key specialist member of the forest development planning team.
  • Contribute expertise within our project teams, spanning small cutting permit-based projects to large integrated multi-phase development or woodlands management programs.
  • Provide leadership in the implementation of appraisal, stewardship and silviculture services.
  • Support the completion of cruise compilations and interior timber appraisals.
  • Manage and ensure compliance and consistency with stewardship requirements for forest development in B.C. as driven by FRPA and relevant Forest Stewardship Plans, including the coordination of assessments and completion of referrals.
  • Provide leadership in silviculture system planning associated with forest development activities and site plans.
  • Provide expertise and support for forest development planning and operations.

The successful individual must be an RPF in good standing with the Association of B.C. Forest Professionals and must have the following technical experience:

  • A post-graduate with operational forest management experience.
  • A clear and comprehensive understanding of and a minimum of 3 years of experience working with the B.C. Interior Appraisal system.
  • Understanding of all aspects of forest management, not limited to forest ecology, pathology, engineering, silviculture, timber valuation, timber harvesting and fire management.
  • Significant experience in operational timber development, including field engineering, crew supervision, timber cruising, field assessments, etc.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in a range of forestry related software, GIS and Microsoft Office™
  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s licence, safe driving record and possess first aid certification.
