WFP is currently seeking a Coordinator of Strategic Partnerships to join our corporate office located in Campbell River, approximately 90 minutes north of Nanaimo. Campbell River is a welcoming, seaside community of just over 30,000 people located mid-way up beautiful Vancouver Island.
The Coordinator of Strategic Partnerships will be focused on aligning WFP’s business interests with third party businesses in support of WFP’s corporate strategic plan. This position works closely with First Nations, First Nation collectives and their representatives and fosters relationships with government, BCTS and other businesses. This position requires building internal relationships across Business Units and departments and working effectively in a complex political environment.
Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Planning, specific accountabilities of this position include:
- Leading in the development and implementation of strategic partnerships with third parties
- Contributing to the success and providing WFP representation on the Board of Directors of Limited Partnerships
- Coordinating operating activities between Business Units (specifically Timberlands and Fiber Optimization)
- Identifying new opportunities
- Developing and communicating the business case associated with emerging opportunities
- Responsible for managing relationships, while minimizing corporate risk, through thorough and transparent written and verbal communications
- Working with Provincial Ministries on issues related to tenure security
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will be a Registered Professional Forester and have:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in forest planning and/or operations
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience and a proven track record working with coastal First Nations and the Provincial government.
- Efficient skills in Microsoft Office applications including: Word, Powerpoint and Outlook
The successful candidate will be confident and energetic with strong leadership abilities. He/she will be an open and approachable individual while maintaining the ability to tactfully make hard decisions. A reputation of honesty and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain credibility with a diverse group of interests and backgrounds is key to this position.
The successful candidate will be team orientated with an ability to deliver results that are aligned with the strategic objectives of the business. He/she will have the ability to adopt and encourage innovative thinking that contributes to achieving practical solutions to complex problems. The position will involve travel and some field work will be required.
