Our client has an immediate opening for a Controller with a designation.
Industry: Logging
Duties include:
- Overall responsibility for the times preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements for a group of companies for delivery to the Vancouver office for consolidation; including appreciation of IFRS compliance
- Assist in the direction of the operations portions of annual audit for the Company's April 30 year-end, including preparation of a complete set of supporting working papers;
- With the assistance of the supervisor, lead an accounting team of 4-S staff accountants/clerks located in the Nanaimo office. Assist and implement in the reorganization of staff duties along functional lines such as revenue accounting, accounts payable and payroll, general ledger maintenance for the group of companies;
- Work with the Corporate group in Budgeting on an annual basis, with regular updating of a rolling forecast for the Company's operations; this includes Liaising with operating managers and understanding of operations in various Western Canadian locations.
- Cash management and banking for the group of companies, including forecasting future cash requirements;
- Play a key role in implementing a major upgrade to the company's computerized reporting and accounting systems,
- Work with the Company's corporate Controller to develop, report on and monitor key performance indicators and management reports for the company;
- Forestry background required.
