Control Systems Supervisor (Engineering)

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision, performance management, and development of personnel
  • Design, maintenance and application for Process Control and Instrumentation Control Systems.
  • Manage relationships with consulting engineering firms and service providers for the effective and efficient management of the control system infrastructure
  • Ensure coordination of automation activities for commissioning and startup, management of change, troubleshooting, maintenance support, and appropriate allocation of resources for projects
  • Lead development of long term strategy for process automation improvements, advanced process control applications, and optimization as well as reliability and security enhancements
  • Manage the control systems department within the defined budget and work to develop future budgets for the area, speaking to any variances, and working to put in place mitigation to prevent future deviations if they occur.

Education:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent specialization. A two year diploma in electrical, process control or other related discipline will be considered
  • Experience supporting process control and instrumentation in an operating industrial process plant environment, with some supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of plant control systems architecture, security, and best practices required
  • Familiarity with plant maintenance, reliability processes and practices required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to process safety and operational integrity programs in an operating plant environment required
  • Experience with Delta V/Provox DCS, GE PLCs, and PI Processbook would be considered an asset
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry would be an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task " Strong administrative and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
