The consulting forester at Long Forestry will work throughout the Midwest and will prepare Land Management Plans, will mark Timber Sales and FSI, will work with the Long Forestry services crew to complete jobs for landowners, and will contact and offer our services to landowners.
Position: Consulting Forester
Hours per Week: 40 - 50 hours per week
Education Requirements: Master of Forestry or Bachelors with 3 – 5 years field experience
Location: Southern Illinois – travel throughout the Midwest
Experience Requirements:
• Experience in timber cruising, invasive species control, prescribed fire, tree planting, and timber stand improvement desired
• Chainsaw training/certification preferred
• Herbicide operator license preferred
Job Description:
As a consulting forester at Long Forestry your work will be diverse, demanding, and continually rooted in sound forestry practices. Your primary focus will be developing relationships with local landowners and assisting them with managing their land in order to meet their personal objectives for it. You will be required to make initial contact with the landowners, explain our services to them, sell those services and acquire any available cost share assistance for them.
You will aid the landowner in procuring cost share funds from various sources.
Also, you will provide the forestry services crew leader with detailed descriptions of any treatments to be done for the client, prepare the work site for services to be performed (such as marking boundaries, trees, etc) will inspect the work done by the forestry service crew, and will occasionally work as part of this crew to maintain familiarity with the requirements of the work to be performed and to ensure quality and efficient work is being performed for your client.
You will spend approximately 70% of your time in the field and 30% in the office, and travel is expected.
Compensation
Compensation: $28,000 - $34,000 salary & commission
