Cariboo Pulp & Paper is currently looking for a motivated professional to fill the role of: 

 

Chief Engineer

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accountability for 2nd, 3rd, 4th class Power Engineers, overseeing certifications, ensuring training and safe work practice
  • Responsible for safety and regulatory compliance in regards to piping, pressure vessels and pressure safety devices in accordance with good power plant practice, as well as all insurance, BC safety authority, BLRBAC, WECC and code regulations and requirements
  • Maintain and develop testing and emergency procedures for boilers, pressure vessels and all steam and power equipment according to all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring optimization of power generation strategies and meeting all reporting requirements
  • Set goals and standards for the department, maximizing performance and reliability
  • Identify strategic improvements and plan/prioritize activities in cooperation with Maintenance, Engineering, Technical and other departments in order to maintain and improve plant performance and reliability
  • Continuous learning of technical advances in the field, attend conferences and seminars, contribute to training materials development

Qualifications:

  • BC 1st Class power engineering certificate, or 2nd Class certificate nearing completion to 1st Class
  • Experience working in heavy industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent skills in all forms of communication
  • The desire to progress, learn, grow, and succeed

The following will be considered assets:

  • Kraft pulp mill experience
  • Supervisory experience
