One of the largest logging companies in British Columbia, Duz Cho Logging harvests 800,000 to 1,000,000 cubic meters of timber annually, and provides wood chipping, gravel and earth works services. The company is based in Mackenzie and operates within the Mackenzie and Prince George Forest Districts.

Duz Cho Forest Products Ltd.

Duz Cho Forest Products is a new sawmill that processes undersized timbers to produce cants in metric dimensions, as well as wood chips for pulp production.

Currently trading with Asia, the Middle East and supplying the local pulp mill, Duz Cho Forest Products has huge potential for growth in volume and products, and offers employees lucrative opportunities for career advancement.

With a population of approximately 4,500, Mackenzie is located within the picturesque Rocky Mountain Trench at the southern end of Williston Lake, one of the largest man-made reservoirs in North America. We have an exciting and lucrative opportunity for a full time Accounting Manager to join our Duz Cho Logging and Duz Cho Forest Products divisions based in Mackenzie, BC.    

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, your responsibilities will include:   

  • Prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to ensure compliance with procedural standards, regulations and laws; 
  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries accordingly; 
  • Organize and maintain financial records;
  • Train, support and supervise the Accounting team, including book keepers and clerks;
  • Administer Payroll and employee benefit plans;
  • Develop and maintain budgets;
  • Prepare and analyze reports to compare budgeted and actual costs; 
  • Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with reporting and other requirements; 
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues and other financial commitments to project future revenues and expenses; and 
  • Make recommendations to help improve business efficiency, reduce costs, increase revenue and maximize profit, as well as assist in the preparation of business plans. 
  • In addition to an Accounting designation (CPA, CGA or CMA), the ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working in a similar Accounting role. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply as training, support and mentorship will be provided. 
  • Previous experience working in a logging, sawmill or First Nations organization is desirable, but not essential. 
  • What is most important is that you possess the self-motivation and ambition to develop your skills and grow your career with an innovative and progressive First Nations organization. 
  • Similarly, the willingness to become an active participant and integrate with the close-knit community is essential for success in this role.  
  • As a strong communicator with exceptional time management skills, you will have the ability to work cohesively in a fast-paced and team-based environment, as well as work autonomously and with minimal supervision.
  • With demonstrated integrity and creativity, you must also be an analytical thinking and possess strong numerical capabilities. 
  • A Class 5 Driver's Licence and 
  • A criminal records check is a requirement of this role, as is demonstrated sensitivity to Aboriginal issues. 

Please note that the successful candidate is required to reside in Mackenzie and must be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance will be provided.
