Reporting to the General Manager, Finance Wood Products, the Accounting Manager, Forest Management Group (FMG) will be responsible for providing accurate decision-making information to the Woodlands management group and will be a key member of the Wood Products Finance management team.

The Accounting Manager’s major focus is to provide the FMG management team with relevant historical and forward-looking financial / statistical analysis and information as well as participating in decisions that enhance the company's profitability. The role supports the Woodlands accounting team in ensuring that appropriate systems, policies and procedures, and internal controls are in place for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly financial closes, monthly and quarterly forecasts, annual business plans and capital processes.

Specific duties include:

  • Providing regional operational and financial analysis for senior management
  • Coordinating and liaising with both internal and external customers
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate policies and IFRS
  • Reviewing and approving financial statements and reports
  • Assisting management in departmental budget control, cost/benefit analysis, and provide financial information and recommendations
  • Coaching regional operations personnel on financial matters
  • Providing back-up and support for other accounting personnel within the organization
  • Developing and maintaining a solid understanding of Canfor business practices.
Required Skills
  • A recognized Accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA)
  • Three to five years related industry experience in senior financial roles
  • Proven management and leadership abilities
  • A consummate team player
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills along with a strong attention to detail
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office Suite of products)
