THE DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Woodlands Manager, the Woodlands Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing Carrier Forest Products’ forest operations associated with its allocation in the Sakaw Askiy FMA, Northwest Community TSL and any other third party volume purchased by the company.  This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Being accountable for contractor safety, performance, and environmental leadership in the operations.
    • Develop strategies and provide leadership and direction to improve safety, reduce operational costs, enhance log value and maximize margins while meeting mill requirements.
    • Plan and execute annual road, harvest and post-harvest programs.
    • Participate in various contract negotiations 
    • Professional interaction with Government personnel and industry partners.

 THE QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent organization, computer, communication, and team skills.  The candidate must have proven skills related to all facets of current forest operations, silviculture practises, forestry planning, permit acquisition and forest policy.  Prior experience in management is a definite asset.  This position is based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

  • A minimum of 10 years related experience
  • Eligibility as a Registered Professional Forester / Registered Professional Forestry Technician designation is required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in current technology
  • Knowledgeable in current forest legislation

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.
