This is a full time, permanent position with the successful candidates being Assistant Forester and part of the Stewardship Team under the leadership and direction of the Operations Forester.

This position is integral part of the woodlands operations and a key to ensuring consistent implementation of operational plans.

LRRF has a small team of resource managers that work in a cooperative environment; employment with LRRF provides opportunities to participate in all aspects of forestry management.

Major Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership in all aspects of safety and quality control;
  • Timber reconnaissance and planning;
  • Road and cutblock layout;
  • Data collection, including riparian and forest health assessments;
  • GPS traversing of roads and cut block boundaries; and
  • Office reports and planning.

To be considered for this position, clearly demonstrate that you have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral);
  • High degree of initiative and appreciation for excellence;
  • Physically fit and prepared to work outdoors in variable weather;
  • Interest in learning about sustainable forest management;
  • Comprehensive computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
  • Strong sense of community well-being and interest in promoting economic opportunities and capacity building for Little Red River Cree Nation; and
  • Valid drivers licence.

Additionally, preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Registration as a Forestry Technician or Forester in Training;
  • Knowledge of tree quality characteristics in the forest;
  • An understanding of health and safety regulations;
  • Experience in supervision and leadership;
  • Knowledge of local tree species and wood qualities; and
  • Willingness to relocate to High Level.
