Job Description

Inland Empire Paper Company (IEP) is a state-of-the-art specialty paper manufacturer operating in Spokane, Washington, along with owning and managing a 117,000 acre tree farm located in both Idaho and Washington. We seek an experienced and highly motivated individual to plan and execute the wood fiber procurement program as well as marketing and selling the saw log production from the company’s tree farm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate with the pulp and paper mill group to sustain and advance the existing fiber procurement program to meet mill production requirements both annually and long term.

• Collaborate with suppliers on run schedules, production changes and overall supply chain efficiencies to obtain optimal quantity and quality of wood fiber.

• Develop and maintain strong business relationships with contract carriers; conduct rate and service negotiations; facilitate effective interaction between carriers and sawmill suppliers with focus on continued improvement in quality, service and productivity.

• Collaborate with the forest resource department to develop marketing strategy and sell the company’s tree farm saw log output.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in natural resources, forest science, business or a related course of study.

• Minimum of five years’ experience in the natural resource field, forestry or professional business environment.

• Demonstrated collaborative communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills both written and verbal with emphasis on relationship development and conducting successful negotiations.

• Proficiency with MS Office suite.

• Previous experience in the forest products industry and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.
