Profile 

Our client is an established Canadian company supplying sawmill automation products and solutions to clients around the globe. We are seeking for a Wood Processing Optimization Specialist based out of Western Canada. This person will analyze, test and calibrate installed optimization systems in sawmills and planer mills and function as the regional expert in optimization systems. The candidate will use their high level lumber grading expertise to guide the technical expertise towards final calibration and customer approval and acceptance. The position will also provide ongoing trouble shooting, recalibration and other consulting expertise in the area of optimized lumber processing. The position will service clients in Western Canada and the USA. The ideal candidate will be based in BC/Alberta and will hold a valid passport to easily travel to and from Canada and the USA.
 

Responsibilities 

  • Analyze, configure and test the installed optimization systems
  • Perform the installation and commissioning of optimization systems in sawmills and planer mills
  • Evaluate the efficiency and the payback of systems
  • Realize the acceptance tests of systems
  • Provide technical expertise to customer and assist sales reps on a regular basis
  • Support customers during regular hours as well as periodic 24 hour support
  • Provide initial and ongoing customer training
  • Create or complete documentation
  •  

    Qualifications 

  • Expert level comprehension of wood processing
  • Excellent understanding of the standard grading rules for lumber
  • Able to read electrical drawings
  • Education in Wood Processing, Process, Automation, Electronics preferred and/or corresponding work-related experience
  • Mobility to travel local and international primarily Western Canada and the USA
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Capacity to solve problems under pressure
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Autonomous and fully responsible for role and clients and customer oriented
  • Knowledge of French and Spanish will be an asset
