Wood Fibre Manager (Management & Executives)

Purpose

Responsible for executing and overseeing site wood fibre procurement. Responsibilities will also include but not limited to the strategic forecasting, contract negotiation, and development of wood fibre procurement and procedures. Supports staff by ensuring corporate Core Values, initiatives, practices and policies are clearly communicated, implemented and achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control and coordinate the purchase of bark, chips, sawdust and other raw materials as required
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements including administration of contracts
  • Optimize economy in purchase, quality of materials purchased, reliability of supply and timeliness of delivery
  • Maintain Supplier/Customer liaison relationship building, negotiation, and communication
  • Maintain inventory management supply & delivery, material handling, analysis and reporting, receiving goods/inbound shipments
  • Responsible for ongoing work with Companies and other outlets to ensure removal of reject fibre and ash on a continuous basis.
  • Coordinate the business plan for facility operating license and be the point of contact with Ministry of Natural Resources officials regarding mass scaling agreements
  • Liaise with key plant contacts to support desired mill recipes
  • Ensure FSC Certification requirements and oversee annual audit.
  • Represent the Company on the OFIA Board of Directors

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in forestry, wood science, sustainable biomaterials (or related), and a minimum of ten (10 ) years' experience in the forest industry showing increasing levels of responsibility
  • Registered Professional Forester RPF designation would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years' successful experience managing people and working in a cross-functional environment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in wood procurement techniques
