American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer products sold into major retail markets (Superstores, Pet Superstores, Big Box, Farm Stores, Food & Drug, Hearth & Home, Hardware) and industrial wood fibers sold into 100’s of OEM markets seeks a VP of Sales & Marketing based at its Columbia, Maryland Corporate Headquarters. AWF owns & operates 10 manufacturing plants spanning the nation, has 450 employees, and generates over $100M in annual sales revenue. 

The VP of Sales will be responsible for leadership of sales staff members, executing sales strategy, directing marketing programs, and providing profitable growth. 

Metrics - how will success be measured

• Overall Revenue Growth
• Incremental Customer Growth
• Gross Profit Enhancement
• CRM Metrics – Pipeline Fulfillment, Call Logs, Closing Sales, New Customers
• New Product Development 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals.
• Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement.
• Lead the team of ~20 sales/sales support team members and manage budget, operations and resources to deliver profitable growth.
• Develop and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets.
• Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives.
• Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required. Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting.
• Manage marketing functions to include website development, sales sheets, brochures, etc.
• Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to the executive management team.
• Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities.
• Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships. 

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required with 10 years of relevant sales/sales leadership experience required.
• Significant leadership, sales process development, improvement and communication skills required.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills with proficiency in Word and Excel are required.
• CRM Driven Sales Process with sound metrics to support customer/account development.
• Proven sales strategy that delivers financial results.
• Background in Companion Animal, Agricultural and/or Home Heating industries preferred.
• Some travel required (up to 35%)
